Andy Bondy, Ph.D., along with his wife, developed the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) used by many children and adults on the autism spectrum. Andy has 30 years of experience working with persons with ASD. He helped design the Pyramid Approach to Education which is a combination of behavior analysis and functional communication strategies that help design effective educational environments.

Iowa Cares Autism Society of Iowa Fundraiser
Thursday, April 10th

The Old Brick Church (26 E Market St, Iowa City)

This event is being hosted by four women who work in an autism research lab at the university for Dr. Thomas Wassink. They have taken it upon themselves to show that “Iowa Cares” during Autism Awareness Month by planning an evening full of fun and fellowship. Their goal is to raise $10, 000 for the Autism Society of Iowa.

Entertainment includes a silent auction, two bands, and a short film. Just a few of the many exciting items being auctioned include hot air balloon rides, original works of art, t-shirts and spa packages. There will also be a wide variety of sweets and treats donated by area businesses.

Doors open and the silent auction begins at 6:00 pm. Our musical acts will perform throughout the night and the film screening will begin at 8:30 pm.

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for students. You can purchase your tickets ahead of time or at the door. For tickets or more information please email danielle-rudd@uiowa.edu.

The Acousterrifics
...are an aucoustic duo that play classic country and folk music. The group is comprised of Dustin Duwa and Justin Mann. Both are local musicians who have played in the Iowa City scene for the last six years.
